After 20 Years of Rallye Support it’s Time to Hand Over the Baton.
After becoming the first British woman to enter and then complete the grueling Dakar Rallye back in 2006, Patsy Quick decided to help others achieve their dreams.
20 years on and we have seen 100s of riders take part in 100s of rallies, raids, adventure tours, hard enduro events and all with the backing and support of Patsy Quick and the team she has built.
2006 Dakar
The 2006 Paris Dakar was the 28th Edition of the world’s toughest rallye. That year, it started in Lisbon Portugal on 31st December 2005 and finished on the shore of Lac Rose, Dakar, Senegal on 15th January 2006.
After leaving Portugal the event passed through Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mali, Mauritania and Guinea before getting to Senegal.
The 15 stages included several 500 plus mile days, that’s Brighton to Dundee if you’re wondering, navigating by road book and traversing some of the world’s harshest terrain.
That year’s entry list reads of a who’s who in world rallye sport, Carlos Sainz, Nani Roma, Nasser Al-Attiyah, Stephane Peterhansel, Cyril Despres, Marc Coma, Isidre Esteve, Alfie Cox.
To put Patsy’s achievement into context, out of 232 bikes that started the event only 93 finished. Patsy along with Clive “Zippy” Town reached Lac Rose after some 5,600 miles, at the end of each day’s riding they would have to service their bikes ready for the next day’s racing.
Desert Rose group
While the doors are closing at Desert Rose Racing, it is full steam ahead at the rest of the Desert Rose Group Companies.
The Academy continues to grow with off road riding courses to suit all abilities, from new off road riders, those looking for their first event and more seasoned riders aiming at conquering a desert rallye.
Our overseas trips and events including the ever popular Portugal and Pyrenees Trail riding tours and Morocco 1500 will continue through 2026 and beyond.
The eBike Xperience is bringing the thrill of off road motorcycling to a new audience and even a new generation with our range of electric off road motorcycles and dirt bikes.
Desert Rose DirtTech workshop is set to see another record year, with off road bike servicing, competition bike preparation and rallye bike builds keeping the team busy.
