The Morocco 1500

Morocco has always drawn adventurers and overlanders to its heart. For Desert Rose, it is a home from home, with Patsy first travelling across it over 25 years ago. Being part of the route of the famous Paris-Dakar rallye of the late 70s and early 80s it is surely on most motorcyclists’ bucket list. For 2024 we have something completely new and we believe quite unique. We have built an event which enables both off road riders and on road riders to experience Morocco at its very best, however you choose to travel through it. With 7 days riding, we will cover some 1500km, starting in the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and finishing in Fes, Morocco’s oldest city, having dropped down to Merzouga to see first-hand the majestic dunes and desert vistas. Staying in quality accommodation and having a night under the stars at a desert bivouac this is an event that will make memories to last a lifetime. All in the knowledge that you are riding with the full support of the experienced Desert Rose Team there to back you up.
If you’re riding the off-road route, then we’d generally advise a lighter ‘enduro’ or ‘trail’ type bike, simply because these bikes are more fun, easier to ride and therefore often make the overall experience more enjoyable. However, any bike that is happy being ridden off road, including larger adventure bikes and that you’re happy riding on a variety of surfaces is suitable for the Morocco 1500. If you’re wanting to complete all the sand and dune sections though, we advise sticking to a lighter weight machine. If you’re riding the on-road route, then pretty much any bike is suitable! High speeds aren’t necessary for the roads we will be riding on though, with the majority of Morocco having a 100km/h speed limit, something with a more upright riding position, a bike that lets you take in the sights and that is fun to ride at moderate speeds would be ideal. The condition of the tarmac can vary quite a bit through the 7 days, so much the same advice as for those riding off road, make sure it’s something that you’re comfortable riding in all sorts of conditions. email now for more details and to secure your place on this trip of a lifetime info@desertroseracing.com

Desert Rose Riding Academy are delighted to announce that we have been appointed by Two Wheels for Life as their training partner. Two Wheels for Life are a charity with a long history in the motorcycle industry, originally formed nearly 40 years ago as Riders for Health, the charity provide motorcycles, training and support for health programmes in some of Africa’s hardest to reach communities. Be Right Back & MotoGirls UK

Ever wondered what 50 women fully supporting each other looks like? That’s what journalist Serena Doyle wondered when heading down to East Sussex on the last weekend in August. I mean, it’s pretty unlikely that a field full of muddy, helmet wearing, motivation screaming, zigzag racing, motorbike pushing women is the first image that comes to mind. But that’s exactly what it looked like by the end of the Ladies Day that Desert Rose Riding Academy hosted in partnership with Be Right Back and MotoGirlsUk. From my view, watching from the back of the Polaris 4×4, comfy amongst logs and cones and bits of kit, what made this final competition (and the whole day actually) so collaborative was the variety of women who had signed up to the event – there were a huge range of abilities and backgrounds! •Some had never ridden a motorcycle when they arrived on the 65 acre wooded estate that morning •Some hadn’t ridden one for the last 30 years! •Some had circumnavigated the world on a motorbike •Some had literally been to Outer Mongolia •Some had ridden Motocross since age 3, were fearless (mad??) hill climb racers, and were slinging wheelies left right and centre This mix is what made the teams pull together so well in my opinion, and made the camaraderie so darn strong. When women lift each other up, everyone wins in one way or another. I’d seen a handful of these women turn up super shy. And now here they were, confidently racing the bikes, carrying a pillion (or two!), revving the engines so they chucked out 2 stroke fumes, and spinning tyres as they turned in the wet grass, each team pushing themselves to use every skill they’d learned that day. I know they’d fought every ounce of insecurity to sign up to something new. Silenced every doubt that told them they couldn’t or shouldn’t. And yet here they were – doing the thing!

CampVC 2025

Amazing! The CampVC team told us to expect this year to be bigger and better. They weren’t wrong. What an amazing weekend, surely the best yet. Great to have the team from Fox along to kit the girls out in some eye catching enduro wear.

Malle Mile ’25

2025 saw the Desert Rose team back at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire for Malle Mile. This truly is a one of a kind event. Inappropriate motorcycles being raced across the castle lawns and down the castle driveway, with fire eaters, world renowned wall of death show, art exhibition, live music, fire works, moto polo and 1500 motorcycles on a scramble around the grounds each morning. We delivered taster sessions of our off road training courses, took some adventure bike riders out to put their own bikes through their paces and yes Harry had a starring role in the Moto Polo.
