The Girl On A Bike at Desert Rose

The Girl On A Bike, Vanessa Ruck will be joining up with Patsy and Harry to host a number of rider courses in early April. Based on our Stage 1 and Stage 2 core training content and taking place at one of our private venues in East Sussex we can tackle everything from the basics of body positioning and bike handling off road, through to hill ascents and descents, braking techniques, ruts, obstacles, off cambers and we may even move on to dropping in and out of streams and river crossings. The Desert Rose Riding Academy use our fleet of late model Beta enduro bikes and we have a full supply of off road riding gear for you to use, so once signed up all you have to do is turn up and ride. Vanessa and Desert Rose have some history. In July 2021 Vanessa took part in and got her finishers medal in the hard enduro madness that is Red Bull Romaniacs, with race assistance and logistics handled by Desert Rose Racing. September 2021 saw Vanessa join Patsy, Harry and Joe take part in the Qatar Desert Baja, a full on desert rallye, with road books, sand dunes and heat. It was hot, very hot and humid, just ask Harry how hot it was. Again rallye support and logistics was handled by Desert Rose Racing. Vanessa is certainly not done with desert rallies, with her sights firmly set on taking part in the Dakar, she has signed up for The Tunisia Desert Challenge in April this year with race support and logistics provided by Desert Rose Racing.

Two Wheels for Life Ride The Gambia

Two Wheels for Life, the motorcycle charity who support various healthcare programmes in some of Africa’s hardest to reach communities have launched details of an amazing fundraising ride in The Gambia, West Africa. Desert Rose will be supporting the ride, in the form of route planning and leading the ride. Using the Yamaha AG 100s as used by the healthcare workers in The Gambia, participants will get to ride the bikes on the same terrain and to the same villages getting a real understanding of how these motorcycles are saving lives.

Zero Motorcycles Roadshow at Desert Rose

The end of April saw the Desert Rose Compass Park venue taken over by Zero Motorcycles. The American electric motorcycle manufacturer chose the Desert Rose venue and team to help showcase their range of off road electric dirt bikes. In addition to the electric dirt bikes, the Zero Team had their on road motorcycles and scooter range on show. Over the 3 days we hosted journalists, social media content creators and customers.

Portugal Trails Never Fail to Deliver

Our 2026 Portugal Trail Riding trip did not disappoint. The south western Algarve had had some pretty wet weather in the 6 weeks prior to us arriving so the streams we have crossed in previous years had become rivers. Some days we adapted our planned routes to avoid the deeper rivers. The hills around Monchique gave us plenty of varied terrain, but this year to add in a little more adventure, we took 2 of the groups out to a little town on the Spanish border. The overnight stay in Mertola was a great addition to the schedule and we will certainly include something similar on future trips.
