September 2021 – The desert is calling. Desert Rose were invited by the organisers of the 2021 Qatar Baja to put together a team of riders for this important international FIM rallye. 10 bikes had to be prepared for the challenging conditions of the desert and shipped out to Qatar in double quick time.
This 3 day event saw riders competing in super hot and arid desert with temperatures at points, creeping above 50 degrees!
Fantastic results for the team with all Desert Rose riders finishing, securing 1st and 2nd places in the female class with Patsy and Vanessa Ruck truly flying the flag. Patsy’s experience in desert rallyes clearing paying off. For Vanessa, a first time entrant into a desert rallye the experience would stand her in good stead for upcoming rallye challenges. Soon after this event she headed off for the Rallye du Maroc, a longer more gruelling event in preparation for her planned entry into The Dakar in 2023.
Harry and Joe both placed well in the event with Harry’s abiding memory being that the desert was hot. He might have just mentioned that 1000 times on his return!
